MEET TYRA
Tyra Hawthorne is the Founder and CEO of Heartbeat Music & Performing Arts Academy and the Preschool 4 the Arts program, with locations throughout San Diego County. As a Nonprofit Founder and CEO (2014–Present), she has built organizations dedicated to creativity, education, and community impact.
A dedicated scholar, Tyra is a PhD student and Doctor of Education candidate, and she also holds a Master of Science in Public Administration.
Her leadership and service have been recognized at the highest levels: in 2025 she was named the 79th District Unsung Hero in the State of California, and July 30th has officially been declared Tyra Hawthorne Day in the City of San Diego.
A passionate advocate for creative expression and personal growth, Tyra empowers individuals through her speaking engagements and published works. Her deep love for music and the performing arts inspired her to build nurturing spaces where young artists can thrive. Tyra’s journey is a testament to vision and purpose, and she continues to uplift and impact lives through everything she creates.
